We are pleased
to announce our third annual women’s forum to be
held on Sunday November 15, 2009 at Montgomery
County Community College. In the Fall of 2005,
then Montgomery County Commissioner Ruth Damsker
and Rene Amoore, President of the King of
Prussia based Amoore Health Systems, and a
political radio and television personality, met
for lunch in Norristown and discussed an idea
that each had been thinking, separately : “Why
not create a forum for the women of Montgomery
County that effects positive change and growth
in the women of our community.” From that day,
Today’s Woman was born.
In the last four years Today’s Woman has
come to be known much more widely due to the
large attendance of women from Montgomery County
Pennsylvania and elsewhere who have been part of
the planning, implementation and delivery of a
conference for women and about women. The first
took place on March 11, 2006 at the Rivercrest
Golf Club and had, as it’s Keynote,
Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, along with a
number of workshops that provided the
opportunity for women to network, learn, grow,
and gain confidence so that stronger and more
vibrant women make their impact on the
community. Proceeds from the event went to
Laurel House, a shelter in Montgomery County for
abused women and their families.
A second event took place on September 30, 2007
at the Montgomery County Community College and
was attended by an even greater number of women
than the first year. Pat Ciarrocchi, Channel 3
newscaster was the Keynote Speaker. Due to the
increased audience and based on the suggestions
from the first year’s conference attendees, an
even wider number of interesting and diverse
topics were offered, often to overflowing rooms.
Proceeds from this Forum were donated to The
Women’s Center of Montgomery County, whose
primary focus is eliminating domestic violence
and other forms of abuse.
We encourage you to join us as a participant or
sponsor on Sunday, November 15, 2009. This
year’s keynote will be Alba Martinez, former
President & CEO of United Way of Southeastern PA
and currently with The Vanguard Group. Risa
Vetri Ferman, District Attorney of Montgomery
County will join us for a special presentation.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Victim
Services of Montgomery County. The Goddard
School will be the presenting sponsor for this
year’s event. We promise a great day of
expanding and exploring opportunities that await
women of all ages.
The full brochure and registration form will
be on this web site in September.
